Girls 94 Shine at the Ontario Futsol
Cup February 13, 2007
Although the majority of the
participating teams play futsol on a weekly bases, but it must be
said for the WSC Strikers '94 Girls team which showed their
superiority in skill and style proving that work does
pay.
Under the guidance of one of the elite coaching staff at
the WSC, the team played in the inaugural 2007 Ontario Futsol
Cup held on Feb. 10-11th at the Toronto Futsol
Centre.
Although the 94s have never played futsol before,
they ended up winning the group stage and meeting Etobicoke in
the Finals on Sunday which they beat on the Saturday 4-3.
The
game was tied 1-1 and stayed close until the the final 4
minutes when Etobicoke managed to score the winning goal that
made the difference after a very good game that saw both teams
battle it out till the end. Etobicoke did mange to get another goal
in the dying seconds on a counter attack to end the game
3-1.
A well deserved silver for a team that showed that their
superior technical skills, having never played the futsol game
before.
Congratulations to the coaching staff and
Technical staff of Armandinho Manjate, Jamie Tiexiera,
& Joe Parolini and the players.
